Physical Therapy Department

The physical therapy department of our hospital is one of the oldest and most fully equipped physical therapy clinics in Greece.

In 2004 its premises and equipment were fully renovated due to the participation of the hospital in the Olympic Games.

The department’s primary aim is to promote health by treating neurological,

musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, pathological, respiratory, cardiac, post-surgical and paediatric patients.

Physical therapy, according to the World Confederation of Physical Therapy WCPT defined as follows:

Physical therapists provide services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can help people at any stage of life, when movement and function are threatened by ageing, injury, diseases, disorders and other factors. Physical therapists help people maximise their quality of life, looking at physical, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. They work in the health spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation.

  •  formulate a treatment plan based on clinical reasoning
  •  provide consultation within their expertise and determine when patients need to be referred to another healthcare professional
  •  implement a physical therapist intervention/treatment programme
  •  determine the outcomes of any interventions/treatments
